Does anyone know of good places to get sandwiches to go in Carmel and Monterey?

Compagno's can't get enough love, that place kicks ass!

I agree; I have eaten tons of their subs. Real old-fashioned cold-cut or roast beef subs with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onions, on a really good chewy sub loaf. Not many choices, but these take out subs are their reason for existence. Nice that they are still in business.

I like La Casa Bodega Deli on Del Montre near the Estero Park. Mostly takeout, and some tasty combinations. The sandwiches are big! They also have good soups, and beer and wine...

Randy's 193 10th St, Monterey has the best sandwiches at the most reasonable prices I've found yet. Unfortunately they're only open M-F. The Godfather is a real Italian sub on a good roll no mayonnaise. Their Meatball and Italian sausage subs are verygood also. They have daily specials like shrimp salad. It's a tiny place, and very easy to go by it except for the line out the door around lunch time.

Bi-Rite market on Casa Verde. Huge yummy sandwiches. Their calamari special is wondrous as is most everything else.
