Kelsey's Essentials

I've recently caught a few episodes of the new season, and I have to say I'm really enjoying it. She has been making recipes that seem pretty creative, yet pretty easy to put together, and look pretty tasty! she is also fun and easy to watch and listen to (it probably helps that i think she's pretty darn cute) and picks some interesting places to visit on the parts of the show outside her kitchen.

anyone else caught this show recently? what do ya think?

I just caught this show for the first time and TV Guide lists it as a "new" episode Season 3. I haven't seen it before but from what I've seen so far it seems pretty good. Anyone else still watching?

the only time is when I'm channel surfing and if it's on I read content. if it's either new to me or of interest to me I'll watch a few mins&go from there with decision.

I'm watching it right now :) It's a rerun from 2011, but I haven't seen it yet. I like it though, I agree that the recipes are creative.

ok you posters. I got the msg. I'll start taping it.
tnx for the info, love how someone said its the best.

BTW: I've made (embarrassed to say) some of SL's recipes like her pot roast and a couple of other unmemorable items. the pot roast failed miserably.

I tried a pie recipe of SL's and it failed too. That was the first and last recipe of hers I tried. I learned my lesson!

I think they gave up and gave her a show that just focuses on " cocktail time"

I believe that we made it through all of 2013 without ANY new shows from SL, although the reruns still remain.

I'll have to give it another try - I saw her show a year or more ago and found it aggravating.

I have to admit that sometimes I find her voice & blatant over-enthusiasm a bit grating, but that seems to be a given for a lot of these food tv hosts. That aside, the show really isn't that bad.

But at least it's a straight cooking show. Nothing like most of the other shows where they are like cartoon characters.

I caught it by accident and really liked it. She has a great personality and enthusiasm for what she is cooking. Great tips, great recipes and fun show.

I enjoy her show as well. Can only hope & pray they don't cancel her or somehow dumb her down - something they're famous for when a show gets popular. Or - give her a plethora of shows that ruin the original intention.

I think that's already happened-- I've seen promos for a travel food host type show.

well, the episodes ive seen lately incorporate the travelling INTO the show. for example, yesterday she went to a place where they make pickles, and then brought several ideas she gained from there (such as brining pork chops in pickle brine) back to her kitchen to create her own dishes.

but yes i really hope they dont dumb this one down.

I've recently been watching her show too and yes, I enjoy it. She's knowledgeable, has interesting but not too involved recipes that should interest people. She's so tiny at first I had a hard time believing she was so enthusiastic about her cooking and actually ate it (I know - not reasonable) - but I've gotten over it. I may even get to the point that I start taping them. Give her show a look!

i love how psyched she gets about some of the foods! it seems really believable to me, which is part of what i really like about the show

Ya, her passion for food really shows through IMO. I dont think its an act, I think she genuinely loves doing what she does.

Agreed, I only started watching about a month ago, but I think she has the best cooking show on tv. She cooks good food with proper techniques and is a breath of fresh air from the rest of the current crop of cooking shows. She cooks from scratch, and thats unheard of in todays 30 minute meals/5 ingredient fix etc etc wasteland.

I remember when she was on next food network star. I found her annoying there, but have to give her props now.

i agree completely with your NFNS assessment, which is one of the reasons i started this thread. i think she is doing much better with this show than i thought she would while on NFNS, and even than the show did in its first season

It's interesting that she cooks from scratch -- when you consider that she worked (as an intern) for "Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee". Maybe she came out of that experience saying "never again!"
