I was having my sayonara modanyaki at Kimura, and I noticed another place in the 'hood is gone. I never got the sense that they were doing poorly. I heard from some fellow diners that part of that block on Rupert is being re-zoned. I hope the bakery re-opens (nearby) to continue to provide those Portuguese egg tarts and buns.

Heard that the fish market, bakery, and laundromat will be torn down for a new condo-type development.

I didn't know it closed too! The fish market on the corner is dead and gone too but that may be old news. Tough nabe, I guess.

PS since when was Kimura doing modanyaki?????? I never had it with soba/udon there, alas.

I sort of laid the groundwork earlier in the week during dinner and asked about it for this weekend. It took a bit of time to make but well worth it for taste and price. Very happy they made this special request.
