Menu Dégustation v Menu Decouverte at L'Atelier

Wife and I will be going to L'Atelier in a few weeks. Have been to L'Atelier 3 times (LV, NY, Paris). Did the Menu Decouverte (tasting menu) each time.
Was thinking about doing a custom menu off Menu Dégustation this time.
Was wondering about the size of each dish v the tasting menu. Are the dishes from the Dégustation menu roughly double the size of the dish from the tasting menu? If we each wanted our own 8 course tasting would we order 8 items from the Menu Dégustation or 16 (2 of each).
Thanks for the help!

I'd say the items from the Degustation menu aren't quite twice the size as from the tasting menu.
For example I think there are 5 oysters vs 3 for the tasting.

I think 8 items would be a lot of food.

I think zippyh's right. It's been a while, but I believe I ordered five items, and that was a lot of food.

Was that 5 dishes split between 2 people? Or per person?

Five dishes for one pig -- me!

Ok. Then the plan is for us each to get 4-5 unique dishes ( including dessert) and share. That makes a 8-10 course tasting that we customize this time.
              Thanks!
What about the deserts? Are they small tasting portion sizes like the rest? Or larger a la carte sizes?
