IBEX Ethiopian Cuisine - Richardson

So...I was on here last night asking about Ethiopian restaurants.

I had never tried Ethiopian food and was curious about the cuisine, plus one of my kids has a school project on Ethiopia.

I read all of your reviews and also my wfe dug up some. In the end, we decided to try IBEX which is on Greenville Road.

SWEET FIND! The food was great, we had a sampler platter that included a number of vegetarian entrees, a lamb stew, spicy cubed beef, and a chicken dish. Additionally we had a Spicy Beef Tartare. While I admit to not having a base to compare from, I have to say the food was outstanding,it was really good, nice spice level, variety of textures, and nice flat bread to dip into the entrees.

NOT only that, but the owner (Ashe) was a really nice host. We told him that our daughter was doing a school project and he took her around the place to point out various items that had cultural an historical significance. Gave her as much time as she needed.

They also had a setup for coffee there that looked interesting, very traditional. I've been in the coffee business for many years, and am a huge fan of Ethiopian Coffees.

Not sure where this ranks among the other Ethiopian places in town, but as a novice was real impressed. I'd be curious to see what some others who have also been here might say about this place. Worth a look.
