Making Fine Cake Crumbs

Hey it's me again :)

So I'm interested in topping some red velvet cupcakes with its own cake crumbs just to add some decor to my cupcakes that won't affect the taste too much!

My only concern is that when I go to make some crumbs out of a couple of cupcakes is that it won't work because the cake is so moist!

Any suggestions on how I would be able to achieve getting the texture of some really fine crumbs from my moist red velvet cupcakes so I could be able to easily sprinkle them over my cupcakes

Best,
Candice

I worked at a bakery where we "grated" cake on a sieve to make crumbs to sprinkle. It worked great.

it looked kind of like this: http://www.amazon.com/HIC-Brands-that...

We took a chunk of cake and rubbed it in the bottom of the sieve over a dish to collect the crumbs.

Break apart a couple of cupcakes in as small pieces as you can without smashing them, then dry them out in a 350-degree oven. Once they're a bit dry you should be able to crumble them more finely or process them into fine crumbs.
