Best Indian in Burnaby

I have a friend in town for one night. He's staying in Burnaby and would like to try Indian - or sushi - in the area. I'm just going to give up on sushi from the get-go figuring I would have a better chance of finding comparatively better Indian in the area. But where? Suggestions.

Thanks.

I would go for Agra (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/14/144561...).

IMO Saffron and Bombay Bhel/Beat are pretty watered down flavour-wise in comparison.

If Japanese is part of your search in Burnaby, try Take Sushi on Hastings:

There isn't much by way of Indian restos in Burnaby. Having said that, Saffron on Kingsway (4300 block) across from the IGA plaza has been around for several years and offers consistent quality. I've eaten there for years when I worked in the area. You can try their lunch buffet to get a good sampler:

And lucky for you, for sushi (again, no rich cache of good sushi in Burnaby) a reliably-good, Japanese-owned and operated resto is just a few doors west of Saffron, called Kura. Again, they've been there for many years (original resto in Japan). Don't expect to wow your friend for lunch there, but for dinner their menu is varied and creative:

The only real other choice for decent Indian in Burnaby is Bombay Beat (formerly Bombay Bhel). I've not been since they became "Beat" but have heard quality has since slipped. YMMV:

My bet is that everyone here will tell you to try Turkish @ Anatolia's Gate instead-they do have curry but there are more original dishes on the menu.

Agree with Sam on Anatolia's if you're flexible on the cuisine -- get the lavash, a cheese pide and whatever else strikes your fancy from the Turkish menu.
