I'm generally not a huge fan of Summerhill Market but I love their annual sale. Really good discounts and it's fun the way they change it up each day. Stopped in this morning with the goal of only allowing myself 2 non-sale items (DeliFrance frozen croissants and milk - check). Lots of great sale items - Rao's pasta sauces for 6.99, Le Cendrillon goat's cheese for 3.99, Fage yoghurt tubs for 1.99, large turkey club sandwiches on challah buns for $3.99, large chicken parmigiana cutlets for 3.00, really tasty and large chicken vindaloo rotis for 3.99, Sunflower Kitchen hummus for 2.99, etc. I even found some of the elusive Liberte lemon yoghurt - shoot, that wasn't on sale either - okay, 3 non-sale items. They also had a ton of food samples going so I pretty much ate lunch while I shopped. Thanks for the heads up, millygirl!

The Mt Pleasant location is their new store. It is much smaller than their main store, which has been around for something like 25 years. It is on Summerhill Avenue, off Bayview. A hidden gem!
And yes, the sale is on a both stores, ending tomorrow. But again, you will find a much larger selection at the main store. Happy shopping!

Thx so much for the tip. Went to the summerhill location first and picked up the three cheese penna pasta, chicken pasta carbonara, turkey pot pie and others. Really good value. Haven't tried anything yet. But expectations are high.
The sweets were yummy. We sampled the chocolate brownie loaf, red velvet cheesecake, smores bars, raspberry mousse. All were great. The smores bars were a big hit except we were already full from lunch and all the samples. We then went to the Mt Pleasant location and picked up more Raos sauce, pate and other staples. Much smaller store and not as many specials. But still a fun find.
Thx so much. BTW, where would I find the white bean dip? I checked hummus section and prepared foods and didn't see it. Store was busy and we were in a hurry.

re: caitlink
I'm happy for you caitlink.
I know some people say their price is too high but honestly, for the quality of ingredients and taste - in my mind it's more than worth it to buy their prepared foods. I am certain I could not make it at home for less.
I know I go on about them a lot but everything I buy from them is exceptional.

Their second location (former Sherwood Market) is also joining in the fun. Though not as splashy with the specials as the flagship store, they still have good deals on the prepared foods. I got a large gourmet three cheese (balderson cheddar, gruyere, and jarlsberg) penne pasta with black truffles for $7.99. And I also picked up a large brococoli and cheddar quiche for $5.99. Great to throw into the freezer for quick meals.

re: Flexitarian
Except that almost all of their prepared foods you simply can't get anywhere else. Perhaps a few are available, but in terms of selection, quality and quantity - Summerhill hands down. And when you think of the quality the price is quite reasonable. A 1 litre jar of beef chilli for $10 chock full of beef, beans and veggies is a bargain in my eyes. Esp after a long day of work.
And actually I don't think the prices on the 'other' stuff is that outrageous.
But like I said, I mainly go for the prepared foods and other items that can't be found elsewhere.
Just sayin' :)
