Psyllium husks....can I bake with 'em?

My in-laws were visiting and left behind a container of psyllium husks, a soluble fiber used to maintain colon health. But I think psyllium is a seed, right? If so, can I bake with it? I don't want to use this stuff as the label directs (tried it once and couldn't deal with the texture), but I imagine it would be good in bread. Anyone tried this with good results? And by good, I mean good-tasting...I am well aware of the digestive results when the stuff is used as directed.

They are easy to disguise in a smoothie... if you like them.

Yes - they are often used in gluten-free baking. I use them in quick breads and yeast breads but only a tablespoon or two a time.

Thanks, I'll give that a try, although it may take me a looong time to get thru this container only using a couple of T at a time.

the current version of the all bran bran muffin recipe (a GREAT recipe) now includes a quantity of "bran buds" which include psyllium husks as well as bran, so Id say just throw them into quick breads.
