A Request: Re. Diabetes Posts

I understand that the overwhelming majority of diabetics in this country are middle-aged people with type 2 diabetes. However, I think it is important to understand that there are at least three different types of diabetes (type 1, type 2, and gestational) and probably more. The treatment (including medication and meal plan) is different for each type. So I think it is important to specify which type of diabetes you are referring to in your post.

The recommended meal plans are the same for all types, in the conventional medical literature. I don't mind mentioning my type when it's relevent in a post, but I see no reason to identify my medical history as part of my identity when the central issue is the same: broken carbohydrate metabolism. Treatments and preferences may differ, but nutritional needs do not.
