another relocated thread
I feel that chowhound really misses the mark sometimes when threads are moved - they simply die.
I dont know who frequents the general chowhounding topics board (I dont), but one thing for sure, an interesting discussion about italian foodstuffs that just got moved off the Italy Board will die now - neither the italophiles or the New York foodies who might have been intererested will not see it again.
wondering why a link cant be added when threads are moved like this.
the more we let discussions live and grow where they are started (I thought we were doing that now?) the better they will be.
I agree with your comments, The Olive Oil thread is now submerged with topics that would be of little interest to true students/lovers of Italian Foods, the Culture of Italian Foods and the Regionalism therein. What interest on "General Chowhounding topics" would a discussion of Baccala Montecato from the Veneto be vs. the ever popular "What did you have for breakfast today", when both are under the same banner?
We've added a pointer on the Italy board. We moved it to General Topics because the issue isn't confined to a region (ideally, we'd love to hear about olive oils from other countries -- parts of the middle east, other Mediterranean countries etc.), plus it's a topic that would interest chowhounds beyond those that frequent the Italy board (and more hounds hang out on General Topics).
We do try to post pointers, but we hope you and others will be understanding when we sometimes don't, as there's a lot of other stuff we have to do.
In any case, anyone (not just the Chowhound Team) are welcome to post these types of pointers if one is needed; just let us know via a report after you've posted it, so that we can lock it to consolidate discussion on one thread.
