Date Night Menus: order for 1?

Gnomey Apr 21, 2012 06:50 AM

Many restaurants have "date night specials' that are priced per couple. Can a single diner order the "date night special"? For example, Cafe Lurcat offers a 3-course meal with a bottle of wine priced at $50 per couple. If I were to order the three courses off the regular menu with a bottle of wine, it would cost more than $50, and I would get half the amount of food! Plus, ordering off the special menu would allow me to try twice as many dishes, and provide wonderful leftovers for lunch. Tell me, am I crazy or crafty?

Why not give it a try and let us know how it works out? Can you take the rest of your wine home there as well?

Cafe Lurcat (and all of the D'Amico restaurants) allows a single person to order date night.
There is no penalty for dining solo, or being a party of 3 or 5.
You get the three courses of food, plus wine by the glass for $25, Or you can choose to pay an upcharge and still get the bottle of wine.

Then there would probably be no problem paying the $50 and getting the full treatment...
