Romance in KC

Bluestem? Julian in Brookside?

Both Bluestem and JULIAN are tiny, intimate restaurants with exceptional chefs. They each seat only about 30 people total. However I don't really think of either of them as particularly "romantic". They are both well lit and open spaces, very inviting and appealing, but not my idea of romantic. Of course, if romance is more about the food than the ambiance, then maybe so. It is such a personal definition, isn't it?

I also find Julian to be that nice mix of romantic, but not trying too hard to be so. Soft lighting and tealights, but it's kind of modern so it isn't over the top, cliche romantic. Probably my favorite date spot in KC.

When in KC, we usually stay at the Hyatt Regency in Crown Center and the revolving resto, Skies is a nice place for drinks and app's..then we head over to Oklahoma Joe's for some good bbq.

Unfortunately, Skies closed. OK Joe's is still alive and well.

Le Fou Frog is romantic and it has great food.

Room 39 is lovely ~ charming atmosphere with excellent food that doesn't break the budget.

Well, it isn't particularly novel, and it can be pretty expensive, but I think one of the most romantic places to eat is The Melting Pot. It is a chain, and the food is pretty basic. But is is quite a fun experience to eat fondue with someone. It can be really sexy to eat fondue together, and you really learn a lot about someone who takes the last shrimp! They have a ton of great cocktails too.

But as I said, it isn't really "gourmet" and it can be quite expensive.
