Mama's Fish House and Rd. to Hana

We will be visiting and staying in Lahaina and plan to do the drive to Hana. My friend told me about Mama's Fish House and how it's on the way to the Rd. to Hana but I'm slightly confused looking at the map when I googled mapped Mama's it looks like it's on the top part of the island and Hana is on the far right of the island and Lahaina is on the left - so i feel like it would be a big triangle. I'm trying to organize our itinerary and slot in dining with activities in the same general vicinity for the days we will be in those areas.

Other areas we plan to visit are Makena Beach, Wailea and Kaanapli.

You are correct. It is on the way to Hana. You can't cut straight through Haleakala to get to Hana. It is a large cone volcano so you have to go around it. That means you would go through Maalaea and Kahului to the north side of the island passing by Mama's Fish House as you continue on to Hana. It is a long drive.
