Alternative to Store Bought Cake Flour?
Hello all! Quick question...
Has anyone ever baked a cake/cupcakes making their own cake flour? I have read that instead of buying store bought cake flour, you can make your own in this way:
Homemade Cake Flour
-Measure out 1 cup of all purpose flour
-Then remove 2 tsbp of the all purpose flour from that mixture
-Add in 2 tsbp of cornstarch
-Sift VERY well (at least 5 times)
Anyone ever used this as an alternative to buying cake flour? If so how did your cake turn out? Was there any difference between the store bought cake flour as opposed to making your own? Pros? Cons?
I'm thinking about doing this with red velvet cupcakes. I have to make a huge batch and buying numerous boxes of cake flour can get pretty pricey!
What do you guys think?
