Trattoria Monti--Still A Good Lunch Choice

Leaving tomorrow for Italy. The only restaurant that I'm questioning is Trattoria Monti. I've read a few recent mixed reviews and am wondering if this is still a good choice or is there some place closer to the Collosseum that you would suggest after a morning of sightseeing.

Thanks for all the help and planning this trip. As always, I'm grateful for the generosity of the people on this board.

Yes its a very good choice, tho certainly not the closest to the Colosseum. But you need to get there right when they open it fills up rapidly,. And be sure to look carefully at the daily menu outside - they will not necessarily tell you about those daily dishes. Note, Santa Prassede, a tiny byzantine church with beautiful, intimate mosaics is near by and well worth stepping intol.

Thanks, Jen. I've followed a lot of your posts and appreciate your advice. We have reservations. I'll be sure to look for the specials.

Might add that if you are drinking (and we always have wine with our lunch in Italy) that you may want to order a bottle - their prices by the glass are quite expensive comparatively (tasty wines, though)
