Dinner ideas for up valley trip to Napa

Phillipo Apr 19, 2012 08:02 PM

We will be traveling to Napa in early May, staying in the Calistoga area, and need a few ideas for dinner places. Already planning to eat at CIA-Greystone and Cindy's Backtreet Kitchen. Looking for something laid back, fun and mid priced.
Thanks in advance!

    How's JoLe look to you?

Looks great to me, but their sample menu looks a bit to adventurous for some of the friends I am going to be with.

For mid-priced, I would recommend Grace's Table. It is low-key and exceptional - not too adventurous for those who are happiest with roast chicken or steak frittes (which are fabulous) but offers more interesting things for those who want to experiment.

Other spots might be Oenetri (although it can get a little loud), Mustards (a stalwart for the less adventurous with hunks of roasted meats), and Rutherford Grill (which is not a favorite of mine because it caters to the un-adventurous, but many love it).

Thank you for the ideas. We have been to Mustard's several times as well as Rutherford Grill. I agree with your assessment of both.

I will look into Grace's Table & Oenetri ( we can get loud also;)).

Check out Bistro Jeanty in Yountville -- warm, homey, delicious food...

I have heard of Bistro Jeanty, but never tried it. We will certainly add it to the list of possibles.
