Staff Appreciatioin Lunch--Maximilien's or Pink Door or?

PAO Apr 19, 2012 03:38 PM

Need recommendations on where to take my staff for lunch. We've been to Tulio's, Il Fornaio, Palomino, and Purple. We're downtown. Downtown or the Market would be great. There's one vegetarian. I'm between Maximilien's or the Pink Door, neither of which I have been to in years. I don't want to break the bank. Ideas???

PAO, I think you could probably arrange to have the upstairs bar at Maximilien's as a private venue. The bar itself is wonderfully rustic with great views. Their take on Mussel's is a Seattle classic.

+1 for Maximilien's! Good food for not a lot of money. You might also consider the private back room at Steelhead Diner if you need a small private place. The view isn't killer like Maximilien's bar though.

        +1 for Maximilien's also. A favorite place!

I would pick Place Pigalle over Maximilien's.

Me too. I'm really surprised at all the love for Maximilien. I'd be interested to know when the above posters actually last ate the food there. It was downright BAD the last couple times I went and I've given up on it. The mussels were horrible--the broth was like dishwater. Great ambiance, though.

I also agree that Steelhead Diner would be a better choice.

Yikes. I had the express lunch at Maximilien's about 6 months ago and it was quite good. Service was friendly and the view is killer.

I also like Place Pigalle, but don't find the view as riveting unless sitting on the outdoor patio. We are going into the warm(er) weather months, though, so I'll be hitting Place for al fresco dining. The deck at Maximilien's is also quite nice.

Steelhead doesn't have the views (from most tables and the private back room) but lunch selection is large and I think the prices are reasonable.
