PORTUGUESE FOOD/AZOREAN FOOD
Great hearing about Azorean food in Gloucester; however, there are numerous Portuguese restaurants in the greater Boston area. Fall River has some of the best. The Academica Restaurante has the best Portuguese steak, and their Sangria (made fresh) is the perfect wine with it--very casual restaurant. For a little more upscale dining, the Sagres Restaurant can't be beat. They also have a Portuguese steak with egg and round cut french fries--delicious! Both restaurants have the traditional Porco com Amêijoas à Alentejana/Pork with Clams--an excellent choice too. It is always hard to decide first, which restaurant, then, which meal. These are two of my favorite spots for Portuguese food, although there are many more. Both restaurant have great seafood and the menu prices are very reasonable. Fall River is about 55 miles south of Boston. Worth the trip!

Thanks for the tips about Fall River restaurants!
Fall River is out of range for the Boston Board, so posts about Fall River belong on the Southern New England board: http://chowhound.chow.com/boards/83
You'll find that Fall River restaurants and bakeries are discussed there pretty frequently.

Been a few years now, but I have really enjoyed both the pork and clams and the calf's liver and clams at Sagres.
