BricoLa: Yet Another Montana Avenue Place to Avoid

Called in first, checking to see whether the new Santa Monica pizza spot is the real deal. You'd think it would be, given Joe's or Milo and Olive.
Do you have wood oven pizzas?
We have the best pizzas outside of Italy.
Really?
Yes. Incredible salads, pastas. Best.
But what about the oven.
Our pizza is the greatest and
blah blah blah.

I wasn't falling for the shtick but we needed a quick slice
and thought to try. What a waste of time.
Easily the worst plain pizza in L.A. Their
blue cheese pizza was edible, sort of.
There is no reason to go here, unless you
like arrogance, disorganized service, loud music.

$3.75 per slice??? And the smallest slice this side of the Pacific. Truly,
how stupid (and rich) do they think we are?

What on earth is wrong with Montana avenue???? Cursed culinary destination.
But this is a new low.

What's your go to place? I'm surprised given this by the folks at Villetta who themselves have very good pies. Still will try it out at least once.

Joe's in Santa Monica, or Milo and Olive. Mother Dough. Casa Bianca. Abbot is fine, once in a while, on Abbot Kinney.

Had to try it out like I said I would. Man I wished I hadn't. The crust is fine but wow these prices are insane! $13 for a cheese pizza??? The pizza isn't bad but its soooo not worth the price. While I like Milo and Olive as well I still feel that place is on the upper end of a doable price point. At least M&O makes a lot of their own toppings.

          This place will not last.....unfortunately.

Thanks for the heads up. I had a feeling that Bricola was going to be the latest disaster in this location.
