The Habit

We seem to have a new burger place in town. The Habit. Is it any good? I've never heard of it.

We have one on Glendale,Ca. I think it's a really solid burger. Their more upscale(ish) place is Hook Burger Bistro-- one in Burbank and a new one in Pasadena. Their burgers are CRAZY good, and only about a buck or soothe-- $5-7 for a burger I'd price at about $9-10.

We love The Habit. The original store opened in Santa Barbara in the '70's. Sold out about ...5 years ago, but corp. owner has kept good food and 'the spirit' of the place. The originators have since opened a closely related concept.

I used to drive my brother back to UCSB on Sunday evenings, and we always stopped there. Good burgers, good other stuff. We eat at local store at least once a month.

Having said that, I hope this latest expansion drive doesn't ruin it all.

It's nothing special; just an ordinary burger. I've had it more than once from 2 different locations.

Which two locations? At that price point what do you consider a better burger?

Sorry for the delay in responding PDG; we just moved to Vegas and finally got unpacked. The 2 locations are Encino and Woodland Hills. They serve a fairly typical chain burger. A much better burger can be had at the 'non-chain' Boulevard Burger on Ventura in Woodland Hills. You can't beat the price.

Thanks Mucho. I will give that place a shot when I am in the area.

Please let us know what you think. Be prepared; the burger I order is messy but superb.

Actually it was pretty good. And messy. I'd go for it again.

The burger is good... but i HATE that they use shredded lettuce. It's the WORST thing for a burger cooked fresh because it just gets steamed and slimy. If you take such CARE with your burger, put on proper lettuce, not something from out of a sysco bag.

Exactly. The combo is a dollar more than In N Out and the lettuce ruined it for me. Also, the fries seemed frozen.

The fries definitely are frozen. I don't order either the fries or the rings at Habit Burger. The burgers are real good though.

I only tried Habit for the first time 2 weeks ago, but did not feel the need to go back. Too many burgers on my list.

My favorite burger fast-food burger joint in the LA area. It would be my go-to place instead of In-N-Out or Fat Burger except that they only have a few locations in LA. Burgers, onion rings and milkshakes are all very good here. Burgers taste fresh and charbroiled. The mocha milkshake is especially good, and ranch dressing with onion rings is always a winning combo. Don't recall being overly impressed with their french fries but they're good enough.
