Question re: Rehearsal Dinner Venues for party of 15-20 in N NJ

Hi everyone,

I am in search of a rehearsal dinner venue for 15-20 people on a Thursday night. Our budget is $50/pp for dinner (with dessert), preferably with alcohol (beer&wine) included, but we're also open to BYO places.

The search area is anywhere between the Cathedral in Newark, NJ and the Marriott Residence Inn in West Orange, NJ.

Places like the Manor & Highlawn Pavilion are too expensive, but a diner is too informal - so something in between would be lovely.

I don't want people to drive too far out of the way (either along that route or 10-15 min. from the Marriott).

Open to all kinds of cuisine, but future in laws prefer something that will not be too "wild" or cause an upset stomach. Italian, French, American, Greek, etc. would probably work well. Cuban and Thai (as suggested by me) have been ruled out.

I'd appreciate any suggestions!

Without a doubt, I'd suggest you reserve space in the back room at Stamna Greek Taverna in Bloomfield (just on the edge of Montclair); easy drive, prices are insanely low, it's BYO (liquor store 2 doors down, although I'm not thrilled w/their selection), the staff knows how to handle a group that size, and it's a lively, festive atmosphere. Big parking lot in the back, too! If you search Stamna on this board you'll find some detailed posts.
