Is it legal to bring an already opened bottle of wine to a BYOB restaurant ?
Probably a weird question.
Is it legal to bring an open bottle of wine ( for example previous night leftovers) to a BYOB restaurant in Montreal/QC?
Thanks.
Max.

Hypothetically if you walked to the byob I see no reason why an open bottle would be an issue. If you drove there then it might be another issue. I've seen it done with no issue usually with partially consumed 1.5L bottle.

my understanding and from I have seen you cannot bring or leave with opened bottles of wine but when I google it I found you can do so in other jurisdictions such as USA, but Quebec kind of firm on these things so not likely to change. What I find odd is that at parade time people on the sidewalks are drinking and pouring drinks from bottles, no longer hiding bottle in paper bag and no control seen from security or police. Some of these sidewalk drinkers were climbing trees, poles and fire escapes in tipsy condition and having difficult time to descend. There was a previous post about what restos do with these bottles of left wine....

someone can perhaps find the law article that pertains to all of this in Quebec
