168 Sushi, Vaughan location
Hello, I did a search but wasn't able to find a lot of Chowhounder opinions on this particular 168 location. The current Teambuy deal has gotten me interested in going to try their sushi! Thanks in advance for any thoughts. I gotta get my new AYCE sushi fix now that Big Meal closed down 4 or 5 weeks ago...

Sushi 168 is fine - about the same as all the other AYCE joints. I found their sashimi to be solid and everything was pretty-good, but not great, like most AYCE joints.
One difference at 168 is the variety of non-sushi Thai, Viet & Cantonese dishes, like General Tao Chicken, Phad Thai, etc. which makes it a good alternate choice for generic, non-foody family outings that typically end up at Mandarin, etc.
I will definitely be trying Yoshioko, though, thanks Zeva! :-)

re: zeva
OK, finally did Yoshiko last week at zeva's (and racheljenna's) recommendation and while we seem to disagree on Sushi168 as I think it's pretty good for AYCE, we are in absolute agreement on Yoshiko!
Tiny, tiny little joint, hard to get a table and a long wait if they're full, but really great food and service, all at a very reasonable price. Now keep it quiet, the last thing it needs is to get any more busy!
Absolutely my new fave - thanks zeva!

I've been there twice. Do yourself a favour and save your money. Don't go. While the restaurant is beautiful to look at, the sushi is horrid. Too much rice and not enough flavour. The handrolls are chewy and rubbery and everything else seems just below average. They have a buffet there with lunch/dinner that's laughable. The food isn't too bad but the sushi is just not worth the higher than average price they charge. If you want to go somewhere very very good in that area, go to Yoshiko on Bathurst one block north of Steeles on the east side. This place has got to be the best ayce sushi to come down the pike in a long time. The fish is the freshest and the sushi chef is just amazing. The food is also first rate and right now, not too many people know about it so you get the benefit of not having to wait in line because it's a small place. The staff are awesome attentive and helpful. Try this place, but don't tell anyone how fab it is..................hehehe.
