You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best! The BEST Chinese Food In MTL: New Dynasty

Hey everyone! Welcome to my thread in honor of the BEST Chinese food Montréal has to offer! Right on the outskirts of Chinatown, I've nominated:

NEW DYNASTY!!!!!

Not only is New Dynasty my favorite Chinese restaurant in Montréal, but it has the unique distinction of being MY #1 restaurant in the whole city!!! I've been a loyal regular for over 8 years and I can tell you prices & quality haven't changed one bit since my 1rst visit!

With classic authentic Chinese dishes ranging from Congee to Cantonese Chow Mein to American-Chinese classics including General Tao Chicken, Chow Fun, Har Moon!

Please tell me about your stories, reviews and any trivia regarding the holy grail of Montréal's Chinatown.

GOOD NEWS PEOPLE!!! I had a very fortunate encounter with New Dynasty's owner on the 55 St-Laurent bus, and from what I understood he is planning TO REOPEN NEW DYNASTY with his old chef & staff after his operation. He said the new location would be located not too far from the previous one.
I'll keep ya all informed on this one!

Great news. Was it Thomas you saw ?
I remember that most of them were working at VIP many moons ago before opening NW.
I miss their won ton soup.

It is indeed a very sad day for me as I have just discovered of the untimely closing of one of chinatown's most authentic institutions: yes, you've guessed right, it's New Dynasty.
After being a loyal patron for over 8 years, I am profoundly saddened by this. I will never forget this amazing restaurant, wich will stay forever in my memory. RIP NEW DYNASTY (1978-2012)

              I don't know the why.
Its being taken over by the owners of a Chinatown II Szechuan place. I assume the concept will be the same as the Chinatown II resto, but not 100% sure.

New Dynasty is closing due to the owner's health issues. I'm saddened by this news as well!

Hmmm, would have to check next time I'm there.
Maybe we could have lunch there together and talk about our food experiences.

Sorry to come uninvited to YOUR thread. lol

They have salt and pepper shrimps!
Their wonton soup was very good but haven't been there in a few years.
They are also famous for their new year eves brawls. I don't know if it's an annual event now.
They are open late on week end until 4 or 5 am
                    very good choice
Do I get a free soup if I say they are the best? ;)
