Tomorrow's the big day . . .only 80 or so parking spots. Police will be on hand to direct traffic :)

apparently a variance was in order for the planned walk in addition and it was passed a few days ago so everything is a go.

Thanks to all who replied! I moved to Queensbury last fall and have missed TJs (Hartsdale and Eastchester in Westchester County) for a number of things, especially nuts and some mustards and sauces.

I drove by on Saturday to check on the progress. Very little work done inside, but some refrigeration/freezer display cases have been delivered.

Their website just says "coming soon" for that location. I was surprised at how small the space is. I know TJs aren't big, but I figured they'd take the whole building, not a third of it.

I agree with you. I've only been in 2 or 3 of their locations, but I too expected them to occupy all or most of the existing building. There was an interesting article about how the spiral ham store in the adjacent building almost deep sixed the entire deal.

I hadn't heard that! Where was the article?

Interesting! Thanks for sharing that. It does sound more like the Honeybaked Ham issue was more of a speedbump (as they described it ) due to their existing lease and not an overt protest by the owners. I'm glad it worked out favorably for all, especially those of us in the We Want Trader Joe's group!

i guess the ham store hasn't figured out that this will bring more biz to this location. DUH!

They probably took advantage of the situation to get a good deal on their lease renewal. Does TJ's even sell ham? I keep kosher so I never look for it, obviously. If they do, I'm sure it's cheaper than HBH.

"An official opening date hasn’t been set, but Trader Joe’s is shooting for late spring/early summer" according to The Business Review.

If you drive by and look at the progress, there is nothing inside that would imply that they could open in the next couple of weeks.

A friend called me yesterday and said she heard on the radio they would open in two weeks with two more planned for the area. I've heard nothing.
