Need a place for book club

amykragan Apr 11, 2012 01:45 PM

We read a new book each month and try to tie in the food. Our next book has the character traveling to Budapest, Mongolia and Russia.

Any ideas on where a group of 8-10 ladies could go for food from those regions? Doesn't have to be all of them, could just be 1

I agree that European Bistro is your best bet.

Other possibilities are the Hill Country Pierogi trailer on 11th Street across from Longbranch Saloon. It's a food that kinda spans the whole of eastern Europe including Poland, Hungary and Russia. They also have cabbage rolls on Friday and Saturday.

Sasha's Gourmet Russian Market in Allandale used to have a cafe, but I hear it was downsized out. It's still a great place for Russian wines and treats.

Mongolian (in name at least; Wikipedia tells me "Mongolian BBQ" originated in Taiwan) would be easiest, with Mongolian Grille on US 183 and the new Kublai Khan on IH 35 & Parmer Ln springing to mind.

European Bistro in Pflugerville has some Russian & Hungarian dishes; I'm not sure where else to find those cuisines hereabouts.
