I'm sorry to hear it. I very much enjoyed my one visit there (I'm not a Philadelphian.) I suppose this answers the question of whether Citron and Rose would kill Max & David's.

The bigger question is: can Philadelphia support an upscale Kosher restaurant? Citron & Rose is in a better location -- closer to a larger frum community, not tucked away from the street in a stripmall -- and will have more interest from the general public. I suspect the food will be better, too. I wonder if an upscale Kosher restaurant would work better downtown, as it would be more central to the various communities, easier for visitors to access. Upscale restaurant in the suburbs, especially in Elkins Park where M&D was, struggle in general.

re: GilaB
Along with the recent closing of Pomegranate Bistro in Potomac MD there are no kosher fine dining restaurants between metropolitan New York and South Florida.
