Looking for a good restaurant for a group near 61st & 5th

I'm coming to town with a group of graduate students and authors and need a place for all of us to eat Wednesday evening next week. There will be 17 of us. We'll be coming from an event at 61st St & 5th Ave. and we're willing to walk a few blocks, but not 20. We have some money but it's not a huge amount, I'd like to spend about 40-60 dollars a person (not counting drinks). We'll be having Italian the night before so no Italian, we can't do Chinese or Thai due to allergies within the group (shellfish, some fish). Does anyone have any suggestions? I have gone online but am now, officially, hopelessly confused.

Two thoughts-Rouge Tomate at 60th and 5th. beautiful space,excellent food. also,Fishtail at 62nd and Lexington. This is a David Burke restaurant,one I like very much. check out menus on-line. I also suggest you sign up (for free) on www.savored.com. this website gives a 30% discount on food and drinks for about 300 restaurants in NY. They have many on the Upper East Side..

Beacon might be able to accomodate 17, and I would think that you could get out of there under $60.00 per person pretty easily. I have not been in a while, but it was always solid Americanish fare.
