Lunch at Sweetwater in Mill Valley
As you may or may not know, "Sweetwater" was a long-time music venue in downtown Mill Valley that finally closed for good. The new incarnation, with new owners (and money) in a new downtown location, is recently open. A part of it is a cafe adjoining the music hall. A friend and I went there for lunch yesterday and pronounced it a success and a very good addition to Mill Valley. It's a small menu, mostly of small items, and the four things we had were the highest quality. We shared a bowl of sun choke soup with brown butter and fried hedgehog mushrooms ($6.50) and three types of sliders - thai shrimp ($4.50), chicken (can't remember the description, $3.50), and filet mignon beef ($4.50), the generous piece of tender beef at least 1/2 inch thick. All were were very good indeed. Give this place a try for the food.
I'll add that the place looks like "fun" inside and all the staff we dealt with were very friendly and knowledgeable, without any pretense or attitude.
