How do you submit recipes?

glutenfreerecipebox Apr 9, 2012 09:47 AM

Hi New Chow buddies!

I have a ton of yummy gluten free recipes that I have developed that I wish to share. I'm new to Chowhound and don't know where to begin. Any help would be appreciated.

Carla

As long as you intend on putting up the complete recipe and ingredient list then you can do so here: http://chowhound.chow.com/boards/31 What is verboten is simply linking to your own site/blog, as that gets into the territory of "blog flogging" (shilling by any other name) and asking folks to go there to see the recipe. If you have photos to go with the recipe that can't be put up for some reason then you can probably suggest that hounds take a look at them on your site (but this all is my opinion and carries no weight what-so-ever with the P that B). Also I have been made aware that if the recipe instructions aren't yours (if you've lifted them from some other site/book/video) then you need to actually paraphrase those instructions to avoid copyright issues. People on this site have also said/made me aware that ingredient lists can't be copyrighted, so those can be reproduced as found elsewhere.

Thanks so much, Servorg! I plan on posting my own recipes, in full. I visited the link you provided which listed a number of threads. I visited the one for Guidelines for Posting Recipes, which states I can either submit recipes to Home Cooking or submit them to be included in the user search database. They provided a link for submitting to the search database, but not for Home Cooking. Any idea how to do this? Much appreciation! - Carla

To add a new post on the Home Cooking board, go to http://chowhound.chow.com/boards/31 and click "Start New Thread", just as you did to post on this board.

"They provided a link for submitting to the search database, but not for Home Cooking. Any idea how to do this?"

This is supposition, but you can create a "New Thread" and simply post to that over time creating a "one stop recipe" thread or you can do a board search using the in-house search box found at the top right of the Home Cooking board (or any other board) looking for existing threads that fit your recipes and then adding them to any of the existing threads that look most on point. Hope that helps (also hope that is correct as to approach).

Recipes are shared on our Home Cooking board at http://chowhound.chow.com/boards/31. You can also submit recipes to the CHOW recipe database at http://www.chow.com/recipes/new

Since you have a blog, you might want to read up on our guidelines for bloggers, at http://www.chowhound.com/topics/36760... which explain how you can mention your site in your posts.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. I plan on not only posting recipes, but learning from the experts. Can't wait to ask all of my questions, and share what I've learned. Thanks again!
