Friday lunch with my Mom. Where should we go?

I live on the UWS but will take her anywhere in Manhattan... I'd like to go somewhere cute, unpretentious, with good food. Recs?

For cute, unpretentious, and good food on a Friday, for lunch, I'd consider going into the West Village. Perhaps Joseph Leonard or Pearl Oyster Bar.

oh, great! This is really along the lines of what I was looking for. You have given me other recs in the past that were perfect. Thanks a lot!

Probably ABC Kitchen. Cute, unpretentious, and good food.

Also a great idea (don't miss the sundae!) and you can go browsing at ABC Carpet & Home afterwards.

That's too hard. What's your price range for food only, not including tax and tip? And what do you consider pretentious?

I will say, however, that you might want to consider the prix fixes at Tocqueville and Jean Georges, but I have no idea whether you'll consider those places pretentious or merely gracious. And when you say "cute," does it have to be a small restaurant? The more you can explain, the better we can help you.
