Friday lunch with my Mom. Where should we go?

I live on the UWS but will take her anywhere in Manhattan... I'd like to go somewhere cute, unpretentious, with good food. Recs?

  1. That's too hard. What's your price range for food only, not including tax and tip? And what do you consider pretentious?

I will say, however, that you might want to consider the prix fixes at Tocqueville and Jean Georges, but I have no idea whether you'll consider those places pretentious or merely gracious. And when you say "cute," does it have to be a small restaurant? The more you can explain, the better we can help you.

    1. Probably ABC Kitchen. Cute, unpretentious, and good food.

Also a great idea (don't miss the sundae!) and you can go browsing at ABC Carpet & Home afterwards.

        2. For cute, unpretentious, and good food on a Friday, for lunch, I'd consider going into the West Village. Perhaps Joseph Leonard or Pearl Oyster Bar.

oh, great! This is really along the lines of what I was looking for. You have given me other recs in the past that were perfect. Thanks a lot!
