Good Japanese/Asian Store, anywhere from Fort Bragg to Big Sur?
We'll be looking for a good Asian store when we visit your fine state in a few weeks. We'll mostly be along the coast from Fort Bragg to Big Sur, but will be inland a bit in wine country & the Marin headlands.
Specifically we broke one of our little dishes for soy sauce for sushi &, not too surprisingly, can't find any good ones here in the desert southwest. Any ideas?
Cheers!

Thank you both. I forgot to say that we're going to avid San Francisco itself this trip, sorry to waste your time. We'll be flying into & out of San Jose, & will then be north to the Mendocino area, loop back, & head south as far as Big Sur. I've posted to the San Francisco Bay board too but forgot to clarify our plans on this one.
Cheers!

If you are trying to find an exact one to match an existing set, here are two asian restaurant supply stores with lots of selection:

http://www.yelp.com/biz/m-v-trading-co-milpitas#query:Restaurant%20Supply%20StoreIf you don't need an exact one and can deal with a more limited selection, visit one of the many 99 Ranch stores in the area. The bonus is that you would then get to do some grocery shopping also.

Chinatown in SF will have all sorts of kitchen goodies in the import shops. Japantown too. There is a good Pacific Islander market in Marina, near Monterey, just about 4 minutes east off southbound Highway 1 at Reservation Rd.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/asian-pacific.... Lots of locally caught fresh fish on ice on Thursday. Fresh specialty bakery products and produce , too.
The chain of Cost Plus/World Market stores has a very good selection of imported Asian porcelain dishes of all shapes and sizes, reasonably priced. There's one in every major California town.
