chicken vs beef bulgogi

fldhkybnva Apr 5, 2012 11:55 AM

I tried beef bulgogi last weekend and am in love...no longer need to hunt out the non-existent Korean restaurants in Baltimore to satisfy my bulgogi craving. I was thinking of trying it with chicken? Is it just as good? Any adjustments that I need to make?

Chicken is not nearly as good in bul go gi. There is just not nearly as much flavor there. Just my opinion. If you want to try it, I recommend marinating it for much, much longer than you would the beef. You should also give pork a try, if you're looking for a leaner meat.

For chicken, I prefer thighs marinated in the same marinade, and cooked on the grill, rather than sliced up in a stir fry like bul go gi.

What recipe did you use for the bulgogi beef?

Here's a great "cheat" for korean BBQ'd chicken (or beef or pork).

One of my friends has a Korean SO every bbq we go you can count on chicken done this way (or beef or pork:-) oh and her mom's Kimchee....

Anyway, it's good, very simple and you won't be sorry you tried. (yes there's good ole coke in the marinade). Lot's of Koren's do it...

        Here's a random one that's similar...

        "Korean" Marinade

soy, sesame oil, sesame seeds, garlic, ginger, sugar, Coke cola. honey, and after its mixed, chopped green onion
