Ok, when I was in Kansas of all places there was a little Mexican place that had these sopaipillas. They were the usual desert ones that you sprinkle powdered sugar on with honey. They were huge and stuffed with things like Beef, bean, cheese and any other basic burrito filling. Then deep fried and covered with pork green chili. Amazing.

Is there anywhere in Michigan that has anything even remotely close to this?

I think we need to hunt down that special chef that will do special dishes like this for us. Puerco Pibil is my special request.

Another thing I've never seen. I've always wanted to try it since Once Upon a Time in Mexico lol.

Sopaipillas are New Mexican (even though generic Mexican-American restaurants have adopted them for dessert).

I know they are, which probably explains their scarcity around here. I've even searched for New Mexican/southwest places and can seem to find any there either.
