It is time to buy a ham. I prefer one that is delicious. Any ideas?

Last year we brought an uncured ham from the Wedge. I can't remember the name of the producer, but I'm sure the Wedge's meat folks could help out.

We weren't after an uncured ham for any nitrate-free reasons, we had just heard that it was an excellent ham product. It was. I'd say it was the best ham I've had, other than the ham I cured and smoked myself (wink).

i just heard today that Ingebretsen's does a wonderful ham. Haven't tried it, but I trust the source of the information.

I ordered mine from Nueske's in Wisconsin. Overnight delivery would cost an arm and a leg, but it would be worth looking at next year.

If the ham is anywhere near as good as the bacon, I'll be in love forever.

Not sure where you live or how far you're willing to go but if you're around south Mpls, I've had good luck with Finer Meats on Nicollet. They smoke their own hams and they are good. Typically, you'll have to order ahead of time but give them a call and see what they have. Last time we got ham, my wife made an impulse buy at Cooks of Crocus Hill and ordered a ham from a local farm. it was really good but really expensive. For the value, I would just go to Finer Meats again.
