Great lunch at Oakland's B-Restaurant

Given that I incorrectly suggested that B-Rest had closed, let me make amends by stating that I just had a really great lunch there.

We split the caesar salad, which I thought was quite nice.
My friend enjoyed her clam pizza, which was a nice size for 1 person.
And I had a delicious chicken panin: grilled chicken breast & prosciutto, with roasted sweet red pepper and a nicely seasoned aoili (love that garlic!) plus some melted pepper jack cheese on a nice bun (maybe Acme? maybe sourdough?)

While I'm not a huge fan of standing in line to order food at the cash register when having a meeting with someone (I just wanted to sit at the table and dive into the conversation), once we passed that ritual all went smoothly. No wait for a table. And I did appreciate the large carafe of water I could bring to the table. and especially appreciated that they pre-split the Caesar onto 2 plates for us (which was more than ample for each of us).

Parking was a breeze at the 2 hour meter. My friend arrived on BART.

Highly recommended for a place to sit comfortably and have lunch.

    Last night was B's last; according to Inside Scoop, Paul Ferrari of A.G. Ferrari has bought the space.

      I've walked by twice at lunch this week and they've been closed. No one is answering the phone.

      I thought the switch to counter ordering did not bode well...

        The answering machine (which doesn't pick up until after maybe six rings) says they open at 5:00 Tuesday through Saturday, "currently closed for lunch."
