Hound Help - Paris (I picked 5)
I have lurked on this board for quite a while. I am happy to post a report, however, I am not sure my opinions will mean much to you true hounds. You see, I am not a serious foodie. Don't get me wrong I love food and I love to eat. I am well traveled, but my tastes run pretty simple. I don't eat foie gras, bone marrow or organ meats of any kind. This is why I don't think I can qualify for a "true foodie card" for entry into the club. Yes I have tried all of these things, but if I am truthful - I just don't like them even if they are very cool.
I have read every thread on Paris on this board back to October. I have scanned tripadviser and Paris by Mouth. Here is what I have come up with and I am looking to you hounds to tell me if I am gonna be ok. I have never been to Paris. I like tasty food in a nice atmosphere. I don't care about complex flavors or trendy preparation. But do want good, solid quality food by Paris standards.
So here goes: (all dinners) Breizh Cafe, Gallopin, L'Ange 20, Le Relais de l'Isle and Chez Gabrielle.
I welcome all thoughts.
Also, husband and I would love some casual and tasty food post ballet at the Opera Garnier (it will be on Monday night). We can go somewhere nearby after the show or back to the Marais where our apartment is located. If you have any ideas would love to hear them.
Also, if you want me to post a report (I leave on Sat and return April 16th), I am happy to do so from the perspective of a non-hound .
I am, like you, a lover of restaurants and dining, in an amateur but enthusiastic way. I like great food, but can tolerate the simple quite happily. We go to Paris every couple of years and one of our favourite spots is Gallopin. Great atmosphere, friendly but formal service and very good food. Not Michelin star, but just good food. I recommend it highly. I always feel good there.
