Mess in the Kitchen! [moved from New Jersey board]
Now I know you all are experts in the kitchen- most of you...but I am not. Recently I have been left in charge of dinner. I know I am old enough to pull of an amazing feat in the kitchen. And I can..within a good four to five hours. That too with a giant mess in the kitchen. With all the mess I leave behind me- there is no point in helping my family make dinner in the first place. Because I hate cleaning up. 30 minute meals, all those food network shows- they do nothing! I need quick recipes. And coming from a family that hates plain meals (spices and spices), I cant just fry chicken and throw down some collards. Anyone have any tips. I hate to spend hours in the kitchen cooking and then cleaning when I have studying...
Two ideas that come to mind are soups like a "quick cassoulet" that I really enjoy: http://www.rachaelray.com/recipe.php?recipe_id=2462 or another type of one-dish meals like a big salad topped with grilled/poached/baked salmon/chicken/steak.
I also made these garlic scallion noodles the other day and they were too-die-for good: http://steamykitchen.com/113-garlic-s... Perhaps top with a protein and make another one-plate meal.
