The Box Tree Ilkley
Has anyone visited and have any feelings on this place?
We've tended to stick to some of the other Yorkshire higher restaurants due to proximity of relatives but are taking a cottage west of Leeds later on in the year so I'm thinking that a visit here may be in order.
The menu looks decent without being mind blowing and Simon was held in high esteem before moving out of London. My reservations are around the lack of any comments on the place on here and other boards and I'm also dubious whenever I see Marco's name thrown in now as he's sold out so much.

Havnt been (it's a little outside of our 60 minute drive time that we allow for restaurant visits) but online comments seem to suggest that it's Simon who is very much in charge. Reassuring that Marco seems to be a sleeping partner. Certainly it appears to be about the best to the west of Leeds.
FWIW, there's a reasonable number of mid-range casual places south west of the city - and good Indian sub-continent stuff in Bradford, of course (Prashad and Mumtaz, for example). La Cachette at Elland, Mustard & punch at Honley, El Gato Negro at Ripponden, Shibden Mill Inn at Shiben are all worth a punt .
I think I've posted reviews of all of these so the search facility should find them.

re: Harters
Cheers for the response Harters. I was thinking that if anyone had been who frequents the board it would most likely have been yourself.
Good to hear that MPW keeps his distance, that fills me with greater confidence. I'll search out your other postings. I'd debated taking my wife into the delights of Bradford's curry houses for her first time but no matter how much I love curry, I always find it hard to marry it with the idea of top end dining experience.

re: AWaiting
MPW's steakhouse at Chester is on our "to try" list.
I could almost write the review now (based on comments on the "Chester at Large" website). Why we're intending a 60+ mile round trip for an indifferent, over-priced rump steak & chips beats me. Perhaps "because it's there" and I'm a sucker for an over-hyped place.
