CRAVE Cupcakes -- Vanilla Bean Frosting

I had the chance to have a vanilla on chocolate cupcake from Crave on a recent trip to Houston. The vanilla frosting was remarkably smooth, creamy and intensely "vanilla-y." I attach a photo from their site (but mine didn't have sprinkles).

Does anyone know what KIND of frosting this is (how it is made)? Would you have any copycat recipe?

Thanks for any insights you can offer.

      Crave has the most delicious and unique cupcakes. I'm sure the recipes for their frostings are kept secret. If you think that was good try the dulce de leche. Crave is a good name....

        Butter or margarine is combined with powdered sugar, flavorings, and liquid. Powdered sugar is used because it dissolves easily during beaten and contains a small amount of cornstarch which helps stabilize the frosting. There are buttercream frostings that use granulated sugar, but these take a long time to make and can be difficult. Classic buttercream usually involves making a custard, then beating butter into it until a frosting consistency is reached. I prefer simple buttercream frostings, beating softened butter with powdered sugar, liquids and flavorings. Beat the frosting longer than you think is necessary for the smoothest and fluffiest results. It's really not possible to overbeat this type of frosting.""""


        i think if i DID live there, i'd be looking like an orca, after needing to taste every one of their combinations (they do have tons, don't they?!).

          Any luck finding the recipe? I came by your post cause I'm googling "crave cupcake recipe" :-).
          Yes, the icing is a modified buttercream and has a very very full milky or full cream taste. Maybe you are right about beating the heck out of it. I have a signature buttercream recipe where I used simple sugar syrup, cream and butter. The results are maybe a little too buttery/greasy than the one Crave makes. I would love to experiment on finding the correct copycat my self but I have busy 10 mothold and just don't have the luxury of time.
