Best Agedashi tofu and Tempura in Boston Area(not Metrowest)?
In the former, I look for a good clean dashi broth, great crisp frying technique in clean oil. For the latter, well presented, hot and crunchy, clean oil, good dipping sauce of dashi, soy and mirin. Last week's Toraya visit was very disappointing for these 2 dishes, but I still have the craving. Want to try the new GenSushi in Belmont. Anywhere else I should know about? Thx much.

I was very pleased with the agedashi dofu at Fin's Sushi (both Kenmore and Beacon Hill). Really crunchy and light, not too sweet, not too salty, and the underside soaked up the broth really nicely. It is very plainly adorned (very few toppings, just bonito flakes, I think), but it doesn't suffer at all from that fact.
Shiki in Brookline is also good for agedashi, just delicious. More fully adorned. Nice.
I thought it was just OK at Toraya, too
Ones I definitely didn't like that much were FuGaKyu (but I never really liked anything there that much) and Symphony Sushi. Just mushy and bland at both places.
