Need recommendation Xmas Eve SLO

We will be in SLO on Xmas Eve and need a recommendation for a special dinner. Had asked earlier for Xmas day recommendation but have decided to drive home when there is no traffic. So we need somewhere very nice and very special for Xmas Eve. Do not want to go to McPhee's in Templeton or Laurent in Paso. Thanks.

Hoppe's in Cayucos is supposed to be outstanding. If you let me know what type of cuisine you'd prefer, I can give you more specific recommendations (I live in the area).
Good decision to avoid McPhee's. I think their food has gone downhill (as their prices have climbed uphill) in the past few years. I haven't completely given up on them, though.

What kind of food do you like?
Since you know the area.. anywhere I can get REAL Chinese or Vietnamese food around here? SLO really needs one.

I don't think there are any Vietnamese places in SLO, unfortunately. As for Chinese, there are few "authentic" places. There are some decent "American Chinese" restaurants. In Paso Robles, Dragon Palace has fresh quality, tasty food. Their buffet is surprisingly fresh and rather diverse. There's also the China Gourmet in the Albertson's shopping center in Paso. They serve Szechuan style food, and the people there speak little English, which I always take as a good sign.
As for Big Sky, no offense, but I think the food there is pretty bland. I have heard excellent things about Fandango. I need to try that one of these days!

When we lived nearby Big Sky was one of our favorites. We found their food to be consistenty good and their wine prices very reasonable. Never found any decent Asian restaurants except the one Japanese in SLO - in the creamery building. Our all time favorite was Chef Rick in Orcutt but he is closed Xmas Eve. Have often been told to try Hoppe's and maybe this is the time. Thank you. We are a bit spoiled having moved back to the Napa Valley.

Went to China Gourmet this evening and it is awesome. Clean, very well decorated and the food was great. We got there for the early bird special which was soup, 2 piece appetizer, entree, all for $7.95 daily per person (3-5:30PM). The service was great and portions were huge. The wine menu was nice and priced reasonable.
This restaurant is located across from Walmart next to the Albertson grocery. Fresh and delicious. The folks now speak good English! Check this little gem out!

I like Big Sky for a casual atmosphere...
That Fandango place is yummy too..

I'm not sure if they'll be open Christmas eve but the Park Restaurant in SLO is outstanding and a good place for a special meal. Also Korbel at Blue is usually quite good.
