Sweet Potato Cake from The Washingtonian sold at Nordstrom's years ago

Hi. I think the best cake I've ever had in my life (and I'm 65) was a sweet potaco cake I had at Nordstrom's, I think, in Virginia while visiting quite some time ago. I liked it so much, I ordered it once directly from the gentleman who furnished his cakes to Nordstrom's, I think his company was called Washingtonian. But of course, what with the FedEx overnight fee it was very expensive.

Does anyone remember having that delicious cake, or know of the recipe? He told me it was his grandmother's recipe. Or does someone have a copycat recipe for it?

  1. You can find the Washingtonian Sweet Potato Cake online if you Google it. There's a bakery selling it that says it's the Nordstrom recipe. If you're looking for a copycat recipe, you might do better to post your inquiry on the Home Cooking Board.

Thanks, I'll do that. This is the first time I've posted (although I signed up quite a while ago) and wasn't sure where to post.
