Vancouver Restaurant for office dinner - suggestions?

Hi Everyone. My office will all be flying to Vancouver for a conference in a couple months. We are planning a dinner together, but as this is our first time in Vancouver, we aren't sure where to go.

There will be about 20 people with a budget of $40-$70 per person (including drink(s)). We need to be within walking distance to the Convention Centre.

We have a varied crowd, so any type of restaurant suggestion would be great.

Thank you!!!!!

  1. One note about the including drinks: Not everyone in the group drinks. Also, we might even get a bottle of wine to share between 3-4 people. Others will mostly have beer.

    1. Office dinners and lunches are tricky to plan because you have to appeal to wide ranging tastes -- and often to the lowest common denominator. Near the convention centre are places like Carderos, and Lift that have menus which will appeal to a wide range of people and staffing levels that can handle a large group. (And they have nice views of Coal Harbour).

Sam's rec of Guu Gastown is a good one...however I'm sure that there is at least one in your party who will say "I don't like Japanese food."

Thanks to both of you! I will look at the places you suggested. I was also considering Cactus Club Cafe.. unless either of you strongly object..

Cactus Club is almost ideal for a group like that.

      2. There is also a pub across the street... TC Lions? Casual.

        1. And if your group can handle a little live jazz, then O'Doul's at the Listel Hotel is on Robson. It's a 15 minute walk from the Convention Centre. Menu is fairly broad, and posted on-line, as is the performance line-up.
