Malacca, Malaysia - Nyonya Laksa at Donald & Lily's
This eclectic eatery started off as a kerb-side stall dispensing popular Nyonya chendol dessert to its legion of fans.
Nowadays, Malaysian and Singaporean Nyonya-foodlovers visit Donald & Lily's for their Nyonya Laksa and Mee Siam, besides a small selection of other Nyonya casual eats.
I was here for the Nyonya Laksa - it was piquant, topped with cockles and finely-julienned fishcake & egg omelette. The taste and scent of this Malaccan-style Nyonya laksa was very close to Singaporean Katong- laksa, but the latter had a distinct dried shrimp flavor which was not present in Malaccan ones.
Donald & Lily's version was very coconut creme-rich and a bit too creamy for my taste. I wished the spices had been stronger.

The tid-bit about the difference with Singapore Katong Laksa is duly noted and added on to what you and M-Gomez and others have posted, thanks. :-)
The difference with KL lemak laksa would be...?

re: huiray
KL's laksa lemak seemed to be spiced with Indian curry powder & spices - predominantly cumin, coriander, fenugreek, ginger, onions. Nyonya laksa spices were more subtle - galangal, lemongrass, fresh chillis, coriander, no cumin or fenugreek but with sambal belachan which you'd not find in Indian "rempah mix.
