Heavy duty grinder for cinnamon sticks

Referring to my quest at http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/8020...

I am looking to see if any grinder will make cinnamon sticks into a fine powder.

I evenually used my Vita-Mix for it, but surely there has to be another grinder that would grind spices (including cinnamon sticks) into a fine powder.

Also see AlkieGourmand's answer saying that softsticks (Ceylon) were used to get a ground powder in a regular Krups grinder.

Wondering if anyone uses another grinder for 'regular' (hard) cinnamon sticks.

Thanks.

When I need to grind cinnamon, cardomom and such, I use an electric coffee grinder but I then put it through a sieve to remove bits of husk and fiber that do not get pulverized. It adds an extra step but works fine for those infrequent occasions. Don't know if there's a more "thorough" grinder out there.

That sounds like a good idea, which includes your information on cardomom and other husk and fiber type ingredients.

I like that better than using my vita-mix - ear-shattering! And I'm not 'into' buying another appliance, but I guess I would.

If I cooked more Indian food I would probably be looking for a more powerful grinder, but it a monthly thing so not worth the money or kitchen space.
