I'm going to meet up with a friend for lunch mid-week who is visiting from out of town and who will be at 9th & Broadway in Oakland. typically, I would have suggested the B Restaurant in Oakland. So now that it's closed, I'm wondering about the alternatives.

I haven't heard any reports on the new Le Cheval iteration.
Any other thoughts, Hounders?

ACTUALLY B Restaurant in Old Oakland is closed. I in OO for lunch and noticed the windows were papered and there's a change of owner/ABC notice up. New place: La Bottega Italia.

Yeah, May 31 was their last day. New owner is Paul Ferrari, CEO / grandson of AG Ferrari.

Sounds like you are looking for a bit more formal, but you might check out Cosecha Cafe. It is a great and fun taco stand. You order at the register and they bring your food to the table. Limited menu, but worth the visit.

Thanks for the suggestion, MMR. As you guessed, I am looking for a more formal kind of spot. But I've heard great things about Cosecha and hope to go there very soon.

Hmm, the menus on the website no longer show oysters, so I guess no dollar oysters at happy hour anymore.

You might call and ask, they don't have a happy hour menu posted on their Web site any more.

It's generally been possible to find a happy hour menu online via googling, though they don't have a direct link. This one is similar to the previous menu, minus oysters (same is true of dinner menu currently on the website): http://www.boakland.com/pdfs/b-oaklan...

It certainly would be worth confirming with a call, but it looks like they may have quit serving oysters in Oakland.

Yes, not closed but I understand they've moved from full table service to ordering at the counter and taking a number back to your table at lunch.

and it looks like they are making a lot of progress on the former Levende spot on the southwest corner of 9th and Washington with a good-looking horseshoe-shaped bar in the middle.
