sichuan gourmet, framingham. vegetarian options?

After convincing five vegetarians to have dinner with me tonight, i realized all my usual favorites have some form of meat in them, sure, bamboo shoots on wonder sauce, but others?

You should check if they can make things truly vegetarian, but ma po tofu can be done with out meat, their greens are great maybe they will have pea tendrils, both the cold noodles can be done without meat, eggplant as well. Certainly could do 2-3 vegetarian with out a problem 5 might be tough, but you can order more than one of some. The manager will be able to help out. Give them a call

    Taking a closer look at the menu, should be doable the only thing is if the sauces they use are vegetarian.

      Ma po tofu is traditionally made with stock. If you ask for it "without meat" the best you'll probably get is invisible meat. Should be easy to fool those vegetarians...

        I believe the menu says 'made with pork, as required' or something to that effect. I took it to mean 'don't even ask us to make it without pork'.

          I've found it's the opposite usually; if I don't specify, it comes with no pork. Occasionally they ask if we want pork when we order.

    2. The spicy tofu with cabbage is a don't-miss. I've seen inveterate meat-eaters order it.

      1. Not sure about the Framingham one, but the Brookline SG will do a vegetarian dan dan noodle.

        1. My sister ordered a bok choy and mushroom dish that was delicious. Very simply steamed veggies. It was on the regular menu.

          edited: menu item is actually called Baby Green Top w. Black Mushroom and it seems that they might have been sauteed as well.

            went with:
            baby bok choy w/ mushrooms
            eggplant w/ yu xiang
            vegetable delight
            bamboo shoot in wonder
            spicy tofu with cabbage
            woodear mushroom
            pea tendrils
            black pepper scallops
            brown rice all around
            everybody happy. this is a great place, though it seemed they had toned down the spicy in everything from when i had had it before. hope this is not a trend.

              Did one of the managers talk to you/take your order? It might be that they toned it down because you ordered relatively few of their standout dishes. (I don't think of the dishes you ordered as particularly spicy dishes in general.)

                The only dish you list that i would expect to have any spice it the spicy tofu with cabbage. I have never found the wonder sauce to be very spicy and the other dishes you list are typically not spicy at all.
