Weber BBQ's CEP 310 vs S330
Looking to buy a bbq and have narrowed it down to these 2 - here's what it comes down to for me:
- The CEP 310 has 9mm stainless steel grills the s330 has 7mm grills
- s330 has a sear station and side burner, CEP 310 just has the 3 burners
given that both are the same price, is the 9mm more important or the sear station and side burner?
There are ways to get around just about any issue, and how important that issue is really depends on what you cook. If you do a lot of steaks, then the sear station is important, however if you don't have a sear station, "grill greats" are a very good work around and provide their own sear pattern. http://grillgrate.com/ If you think you would use the side burner, then that's a good deal, but if you don't think you would use it, then it really doesn't matter. I've never had the side burner, one of the guys I work with has one and says he never uses it, others think it's a great feature, you have to make that decision for you. The thing about the stainless grates is they don't have the heat capacity of cast iron, so 9mm or 7mm may not really make all that much difference in your results. I have the grill greats as referenced above and use those right on top of the SS grates that came with my grill any time I'm interested in sear marks. Like I said, there are many ways to work around specific issues, so buy the one you think will best fit your needs and what and how you cook.
